Development of Scale for Assessing Practice of Housewives for Home Safety

Abstract
The purpose of this study was the development of scale which assesses housewives's practice related to home safety. The subjects were 424 housewives over 18 years old who had lived in Seoul and Kyungki-Do.
The 65-items scale for assessing was made by individual interview for home safety and contents validity of scale was verified by consulting with expert group.
The data analysis was done by SPSS with factors analysis. Pearson correlation coefficient and total correlation coefficient.
The result of the study were as follows:
1. Internal consistency reliability was tested by cronbach alpha and the cronbach alpha was .9576.
2. In the construct validity test, nine factors have an eigenvalue 3.0 over. Each factor named Burn accident, Fall-down, Elevator accident, Gas accident, Stabbing or Incision, Electric shock, Poisoning, Safety Education and Floor or Typhoon.
